Lily Morgue 2 | PKF

America’s overwhelmed morgues are grappling with a crisis: severe underfunding and a shortage of qualified medical examiners. This desperate situation forces makeshift morgues into unsuitable spaces, often staffed by untrained personnel.

One such morgue houses a young woman who died from a severe head injury. The medical examiner, despite appearing sympathetic, takes an overly personal interest in her during the examination. He lingers over her body, lingering on her beauty, particularly her feet. He conducts a thorough autopsy, then, with his private overhead camera recording him unseen by superiors, he takes things a step further.

In the privacy of the morgue, fueled by the morbid thrill of unchecked power, he uses her lifeless form for his own gratification. He enjoys this final act of intimacy before she is cremated in two days—another nameless victim lost in the system’s failings.
